Elynd

A D&D Campaign Setting

Mysterious immortal creatures of great power. They're tied to a massive roaming storm called the Feywild.

The Feywild Storm

The Elynd, servants of Jaklodin, live in the Feywild. This great, powerful storm is said to follow the Verogod warping the surrounding lands to the whims of the Elynd. Some say it idles deep in Haelink, or on an island lost in the middle of the sea. Spotted references through history claim that when this great storm comes through, rivers are changed, trees washed away, and entire villages laid to ruin.

Folk Lore

Snippets of lore that can be found in various fey villages. Often dubious, conflicting, or entirely apocryphal.

Origin

  • The Elynd are fey, like elves or eladrin. Made by Jaklodin but are his favored creations.
  • The Elynd are souls of fey who were captured by Jaklodin or died in his forests and were reincarnated by him, rather than in Muericho.
  • The Elynd are just as foreign as devils and demons. Creatures that came from another realm to find easy prey on Mondevai.

Rules

  • Three is a sacred number to the Elynd, and agreements, questions, or bindings made in threes are especially significant and powerful when they are involved.
  • Elynd cannot cross into a Fahrstone threshold like many other magical creatures.
    • A piece of white Fahrstone freely given them or a bone from a creature within the field allows them passage.
  • Elynd are bound to follow the Storm, and cannot gain freedom from Jaklodin unless freely given land by its owner.
    • The planetary ring around Mondevai binds them to the world, the Storm's cloud ring binds them to Jaklodin. A third ring of holly is said to bind them or drive them from a place.
  • The dawn weakens the power and enchantments of the Elynd
  • The Elynd refuse metallic arms and armor and go to great lengths to destroy and discourage their use.
    • Weapons and symbols made of bronze are very effective against the denizens of the Feywild.

The Feywild

  • Like the Elynd themselves, the Storm cannot break a Fahrstone threshold. Those within will not notice the passing.
  • Towards the center, the Elynd grow more powerful and more ancient. The stormwall is a perpetual circle of immortal hunters that prey on what the storm crosses.
  • The Elynd jealously guard their secrets. Those who encounter the storm are never seen again.
