Aedras
Backstory
Early Years
Aedra began life a curious and wild character, known for wearing white sheets and dancing barefoot in the desert sand, sweeping it into marvelous shapes and movements with her abrupt and graceful gestures. In opposition her eccentric behavior, as the daughter of her tribe’s leader, Aedra aws heavily groomed to be married into a formerly warring tribe as an act of diplomacy at the age of 15.
Shunned as an outsider who has suffered numerous miscarriages, at the age of 20 she gives birth to her first son, who dies before he is named after only three days of life. All blood ties and hopes of offspring vanquished, in an act of love for her son, patriotism to her birth tribe, and irreverence for her new home, she posthumously names him Sindri after the golden dwelling for the souls in her tribe's mythology. In doing so, Aedra knowingly and ultimately forces her exile into what should be a swift and fatal solo journey into the heart of the desert.
Contrary to expectation, her visceral nature and boundless curiosity guide her to safety. Her hypnotizing movements win the favor of many animal companions, who, by allowing her in their private realms, reveal to her the additional survival techniques she requires. Eventually, she takes two as permanent companions, a fox named Thaea and a raven named Ermus. Wily, solitary, and playful, the three form a strong bond, wandering the desert in search of food and, in Aedra's case, enlightenment.
In their years together, they uncover numerous deposits of blue marmaron, a material highly valued in part thanks to its treacherous location in the least habitable portions of the Eastern Desert.
In contrast to her usual indifference to material items, attracted to its transformative properties as well as its beautiful blue luminescence, Aedra stores as much as she can comfortably carry, incorporating it on her person by way of creating new prosthetics and eventually replacing her many rotten teeth.
Recent Years
After 23 years of journeying, Aedra reaches the other side of the desert, greeted by a spectacular and hostile ocean, the first body of water Aedra’s eyes have ever seen.
Convinced by its spectacle and inspired by its resemblance to blue marmaron, she decides to abandon her solitude and extend her journey into the worlds outside her home, excited to share and expound upon her insights.
By the end of her 23 year stent, her hair has begun to silver, her body grown virile and toned, and her skin not replaced by prosthetics tanned into a permanent leathery, shimmering grin. Her companions, Thaea and Ermus, appear equally aged into a timeless and hearty state.
