A D&D Campaign Setting
Many languages are spoken throughout the world. Most races can communicate with each other in Common, a bastardized dialect of Elvish, or Undercommon, a gutteral speech that stems from ancient Draconic.
Just about everyone knows Common, but many people are bilingual in their regional language as well. Scholars often delve into foreign languages or the exotic tongues of goblins and other bestial humanoids, but the truly ancient languages are left mostly to archeralds.
