A city-state on the borders of Fornmidr and Nalarin, this little nation was relocated from the Desert Wars historical site of the Blasted Gate during a major shifting event. As it was not only a minor point of defense against demonic incursions but also a well-stocked vault of Hlyn, Domengro has burgeoned into a bastion of defense in the area.
Life in Domengro
Within the mighty walls of the city the Miners' Guild has a major presence. While the Fahrstone mines are long since tapped, the city now serves as a major source of silver and iron excavation and banking. The dwarven clans originally controlled this city and still hold significant political power despite the sale of the site to the current dragonborn lords.
The clerics of Hlyn and Nairo administrate a well-funded military academy in Domengro, primarily for the purpose of training recruits to fight the demonic armies that still sweep over Nalarin.
Turathi and ascre refugees immigrated to Domengro decades ago, and make up a considerable portion of the lower and middle class workforce in the city. "Sifters," the term for the people who spend all day picking through sand for black marmaron grains, are the poorest of the lot. Despite Nairo's strong influence, slavery is not legal within the city.
Caravans of traders frequent through a small uplift, usually dwarven, but occasionally are comprised of daring fey or dravic tradeships.
Geography
A tiered city on the side of a mountain, Domengro is well positioned to defend against attack. Despite the former dwarven ownership and presence of a minor uplift, the city does not extend far into the mountain itself besides the mines.
Several small wells and oases sit at the base of the mountain, fed by springs in the rocks. Here the population draws its water and so the city sprawls around the foot of the giant peak. A great wall commissioned by the dragonborn general surrounds the majority of the lower city, keeping it safe. The slums beyond the wall are refreshed by lower-quality oases, some of which are mildly toxic due to runoff from the mines...
Upon the cliffs, light vegetation provides food for sheep and goats to feed the people. Cave moss, sugar cane, bananas, and amaranth are also grown in the area as major crops.
