Three guilds, clans, or organizations (depending on the country's laws and definitions) hold power throughout the world. These groups are often more powerful than any particular noble house or station and are held out of national squabbles even beyond religions. Collectively, they are referred to as the “Tri-Cartel Blanche,” or “The Three” for short.

The layout of the world is a constantly shifting mystery – at least to the laymen of the world.
