New page

== Backstory ==
Macto Kadet bares distinct markings of both dragonborn and dravon races. He attended the best all-dravon schools and, due to his father's political status, the schools conveniently overlooked the fact that his mother was dragonborn. He was largely ignored by his peers on account of his racial mix. When it came to teamed recreation, Kadet was always one of the last ones chosen despite his innate physical ability as a dragonborn. In years past, this mix has both helped and hindered his ability to form relationships. His primary method of making friends was defending them from would-be bullies. This would serve him well as his friends ascended into industry around the land after their education. His network is vast and loyal. Many still owe him favors, some he owes favors to.

With both parents working, Kadet was left under the watch of one of his father's former clients, Zaffic Torr. He is a lower class dragonborn that is highly trained in military and guerrilla combat. These skills have aided him in his dealings with political officials and the lowlife scum of the cities. He is a powerful ally in the streets of [[Isamarr]]. Kadet idolized his father's desire to help others but the bureaucracy of politics bored him. That said, it was these politics that saved Torr's life. Long before he earned the title "Lord," Keagon was the only attorney that would touch Torr's murder case. For that, Torr owed Keagon his life and was honored to watch over Macto Kadet. It was Torr that taught Kadet how to fight and help others outside of politics. Sometimes this meant getting a bit rough. Killing was only to be used as a last resort.

During some dealings in the streets, a dravon named Lori (a mid-level politician with known mean streak) was found savagely beating and sexually abusing one of Kadet's longtime friends from their school days. During the altercation, Kadet lost control and set Lori ablaze. Lori died before Torr could save him. Torr and Kadet had bonded through the years and Torr could not bear to see Kadet go down for this crime. Torr willingly took his place in prison. It has been six years and it is rumored that Torr will be getting out soon for good behavior and a little help from Lord Keagon Kadet.

Since the incident with Lori, the relationship between Lord Kadet and Mac has been strained. Mac knows he has to earn his father's respect back and that it won't be easy. As such, Mac refrains from trading on his family name and is eager to redeem himself in his father's eyes. He is on the right track but has a ways to go.

Even though Kadet had been around killing before, he himself had never been the one to take a life. It didn't sit well with him and he quickly grew restless. He decided to travel. He sent messages home but his constant movement meant replies were few and far between. His parents would send messages to Kadet's friends if they knew he would be in the area. This sometimes worked, some letters were quite dated and rarely did he receive them in chronological order. Messages would often contain a bit of the underground info on the happenings of home and some food that most often eaten by the friend lest it go bad.

Kadet has been traveling for the last few years. Returning home every so often for no other reason than to ease the worries of his parents, see old friends, and trade in secrets and silver. He keeps his nose clean while at home to protect the reputation of his family but has been living as a rebel without a cause for quite some time; conning politicians to help friends or to further his own agenda towards social justice. Money and status do not matter, while useful, don’t matter as much to Kadet. Kadet longs to travel and to help those that cannot help themselves from the control of dirty politicians or tyrannical men of industry. The fame gained from these excursions has come at a price though; those on the short end of the stick would often set a bounty on him. Kadet was adept at keeping those who would mean to do him harm at a distance by trading secrets. It also helped that many fellow bounty hunters would tip him off if trouble was coming his way. This contributed to Kadet's vagabond lifestyle.

Most bounty hunters liked Kadet because he stirred up just enough trouble provide a decent income by pitting powerful people against one another. There were always some hunters that refused to compromise. In these cases, sending the employer a note with a bloody appendage with a distinctive tattoo or some jewelry from the hunter usually served as a good way to call off the search. This shouldn’t be an issue for Kadet since he was more trivial in the dealing but he may be considered guilty by association with Torr and may be used as leverage against him.

Kadet has only recently returned to Isamarr. He has heard rumors of illegal caffeine trade getting out of hand as two of the empires are beginning to overlap in the market district. Officials have been paid to stay out of the turf war and the markets are suffering for it. In particular, the Hought brothers. Kadet is in town to find a solution and see if he can help his friends and maybe glean some leverage on a bigger target, finding artifacts and looting being secondary
