73.6.117.7: /* Bronzemen */

Many cultures have historical documents telling of great kings, mighty heroes, and ominous evils. These records and figures are often difficult to verify, but their prevalence – especially in a magical and mysterious world – is heavy and their existence still believe. Figures here are listed by their name, their primary believers, and the likely origin.

Verogods
The divine, solar, demonic, or demigod powers in the world, depending on who you ask. While most religions acknowledge their existence and immortality, beliefs vary on origins, motivations, and powers.

Vai
Often as a mother goddess, a progenitor, or the world itself. By the Cosmics, she is sometimes seen as a fallen angel with a general sense of goodness. To the Átheists she’s seen as the spirit of the waters.

Fahr
An ancient word for the sun. When treated as an immortal entity, Fahr is a vengeful but honest angel who protects Vai from darkness. Sometimes, the sun is viewed as the embodiment of Hell.

Nemo
Nemo does not receive much veneration in the world, but rather a subtle respect from law enforcement. He’s seen as an unchangeable, inextinguishable source of purity and justice or as a mire of despair and blackness from which the unholy cannot escape. To others, he’s considered an avenging angel.

Banikon
The ancient emperor of a world-spanning nation. What happened to him after the destruction of the nation is contested. Commonly, he’s believed (by Cosmic, Stevens, Sylvans, and more) to sit at the center of the world, either judging the souls of the dead or serving penance for his crimes.

Hlyn
A daughter of the Emperor and one of his mightiest generals. Many Tibanese consider her to be the progenitor of the Dragonborn race. Cosmics revere here as a protector or the people and the patron of percussionists. Sylvanists treat her as one of the two Verogods who maintain life on Vai.

Revannah
Another daughter of Banikon, said to have created the Yuan-ti before she was banished or fled the face of Vai. She is not widely spoken of, but represents sedition and espionage when mentioned.

Orien, Sirrien, and Urien
These three are a singular, divided, or paired being depending on faith. Eldest of Banikon’s progeny, the Verogod or Verogoddess left the empire at its collapse. Where worshipped, Orien is often treated as the patron of innovation, while Urien represents exploration and Sirrien mystical knowledge. Where despised, he, she, or they are treated as the ruler of undeath.

Dara, Iilikos, Thain, and Ximena
These four are not commonly seen as immortals, but instead as unbreakable forces that govern the world (Change, Chance, Time, and Motion, respectively). Otherwise, they are grouped as major figures in Nemo’s court of angels.

Nairo
Another Danzamal in the Cosmic church, he was a great general of Banikon. He was said to be banished as a traitor to the Empire in the waning days of the empire.

Gyrum
Gyrum is honored by some idealists as the lord of reform and restructuring, casting down the outdated ways of men for newer, brighter works. Like Nairo, he is said to have been an exiled rebel.

Jaklodin
So far as can be discerned, Jaklodin was the Master Gardener of the Dragon Empire. He kept the lands for the palace and surrounding city. In Sylvanism, he is seen as the reason the world continues to live. In the Cosmic Church, he is the patron of woodwinds and woodlands.

Sarice
Sarice’s name appears on many, many drafting charts in Enclaves all over the world. She is known as a great master of architecture and choral enthusiast.

Ariese
Often referred to as The Librarian, he apparently was responsible for the publication, collection, or caretaking of the Empire’s written works. Many scholarly enclave hunters consider the rumored Great Library to be the most important remnant of Sigil left unfound.

Savulcian
Master of intrigue and courtier exemplary, Savulcian is said to still wander the world, scheming to restore the lost Empire. A grand plot spanning the many millennia, he embodies the calm waters and sudden tempests of diplomacy, politics, and conflict.

----

Leaders
Queen Hitti
Marrans – Crease

A warrior queen from an ancient kingdom. Her tomb is often referenced as incomplete in writings from the kingdom, but its location has never been found. Folktales speak of her quest attain the immortality of the Verogods and her eventual fall into madness. Queen Hitti is a lesson to many people of the dangers of unnaturally prolonged life.

Emperor Haelphon
Marrans – Turath

A modern myth. The Emperor of Turath is rumored to have escaped the destruction of his nation with the help of the Verogods and an artifact of great power. He saved his soul and mind from death, but not without cost. Now a demon, he seeks to wreak vengeance on the nation who ruined him and his land.

----

Individuals
Jäger Kavka
Black Stevens – Ethasadril

The Black Stevens believe the Hunter to be one of Banikon’s most trusted – and loathed – servants. He’s said to walk the land eternally, his soul taken by the Emperor of Death during an escape attempt from Muericho. Wearing a white robe, he hunts down Necromancers and other ill-doers at his lord’s behest.

----

Creatures
Dragons
Scaled Races – Worldwide
The Dragon Empire had many statues of reptilian beasts. Lizards, snakes, basilisks, and behir abound. The most commonly rendered, however, are huge, scaly beasts who churn the air with their powerful wings. These imposing relics and monstrous skeletons are usually all that remain of the mighty creatures, but very rarely a juvenile specimen is discovered in a state of suspended animation. These creatures have been heavily documented by the scientists who saw them alive, but few live even days past their discovery.

Based on bones found in enclaves, it is estimated that ancient dragons live several hundred years and grew to gargantuan sizes.

Rarely, a specimen may find a niche – usually in a sparsely populated area such as Krace – and live to be several decades old. Their apparent biological need for precious metals as well as their rare hides make these beasts the target of valuable ranging expeditions.

Bronzemen
Yuan-ti – Holy Kingdom of Zantaashi

As recently as four hundred years ago and as far back as the early origins of the Houses, there are written accounts about men made of bronze who brutally murdered those whose karmic debt became too great. The mythical Bronzemen remain a common children's tale in the Holy Kingdom of Zantaashi. More information here.

Shamblemen
Elves – Ethasadril

Slow, mysterious, and deadly, the western tundra of Ethasadril is dotted with humanoid figures. These abominations are ponderous in movement until you make eye contact. Stories from there vary. Some claim they turn you to stone for moments while they approach. Others claim they steal the speed from your eyeblink. Whatever is true, reports agree that none survive the plains.

Αμφιπωλω
Archeralds – Tiban

Strange, hiveminded relics of the Dragon Empire. These creatures control several bodies from a central source, though little (if any) intellect remains in their undead skulls. A massive semi-sentient one did significant damage to the city of Isamarr when unearthed.
